Session 1 Topic:  Federal 2021 Tax update- What you need to know and what MIGHT be coming

      • Session 1 Summary:  In session 1 learn about the federal individual and estate tax changes for 2021 as well as potential proposed changes for 2022. 

Session 2 Topic:  2021 Federal and state update for Businesses/corporations

In session 2 learn about the 2021 federal corporate tax changes as well as general state tax updates and VA conformity.

Speaker-Session 1:

Name:  Ginny Graef, CPA

Title:  Tax Senior Manager

Ginny enjoys working closely with her clients and their team of legal and financial advisors to provide tax planning solutions that meet her clients’ specific needs and goals. Ginny has 15 years of experience in public accounting and for the past 11 years has specialized in providing tax compliance and consulting services to high net worth individuals, including corporate executives, entrepreneurs and high ranking government officials.

Ginny’s areas of expertise include income, gift, and trust and estate compliance and planning services. In addition, she focuses on compliance and consulting related to investment partnerships.

Prior to joining Keiter, Ginny most recently spent several years in the northern Virginia office of BDO USA, LLP in their high-net-worth practice. She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, providing tax compliance and consulting services to businesses and individuals.

Speaker-Session 2:

Name:  Kay Gotshall, CPA

Title:  Tax Senior Manager
Company:  Keiter

Kay has over 23 years of tax experience in both the private and public accounting practice areas.  Kay serves several of Keiter’s larger corporate clients with their FAS 109 tax provision and returns.  Currently, Kay leads the Keiter multi-state tax team, which is primarily responsible for a majority of the multi-state tax filings prepared by the firm.  In addition, the Keiter multi-state tax team provides income, as well as, sales and use audit and research support services.  Kay works on a wide variety of industries, since most of her clients are multi-state.  Some of the specific industries she serves include services, broker-dealers, manufacturing, and construction. Furthermore she consults with a variety of clients on filing requirements for multi states and foreign company ownership and operations. In addition, she manages other large affiliated groups of returns that span several months to ensure due dates are met.

Prior to joining Keiter, Kay worked for a high technology manufacturer in San Diego, California.  Her responsibilities included income, sales and property tax compliance, managing any federal and state audits, implementation of sales tax reporting procedures, tax provisions, multi-state tax issues, international operations and foreign reporting requirements.  She also prepared the documentation of costs eligible for the federal tax credit for increasing research and experimentation expenditures.  Prior to working on the private side of accounting, Kay was a senior tax consultant for Deloitte & Touche, LLP.  While at Deloitte, she was responsible for clients’ tax planning, tax compliance and researching issues.  Her clients at Deloitte were primarily foreign owned US companies.

Kay is a board member of the Junior Achievement of Central VA and is currently serving as Committee Chairperson for Fundraising and Events.  She is also active in the Accounting and Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA)-Richmond Chapter serving in a variety of roles over the years including Co-Chair AFWA Regional Conference, AFWA National Conference Presenter, former Director and President.
